Human Life International (HLI) President Father Shenan J. Boquet pushed for the legislative protection of life in the United States and around the world in a video interview with Catholic News Agency saying that there is no compromise when it comes to life issues.

“There is no compromise when it comes to life issues,” Fr. Boquet said during the interview which was taped during the Second International Congress for Truth in Life in São Paulo, Brazil last month. (Statement at 3:33 minutes.)

“There is no compromise in allowing … one person’s life to become more important than another, or that we may consider a lesser evil … in order to accomplish [some] greater work,” said Fr. Boquet. “Instead, we must try earnestly to pass policies and encourage policies on federal levels, state levels and local levels that will uphold the true essence of life, the true beauty of life and to protect it on every level.”

Fr. Boquet emphasized speaking with charity and respect to those working against the pro-life movement, but said pro-lifers must always speak the truth about the dignity of human life “strongly,” “firmly” and “with great love.”

“The pro-life fight is really a fight to its very core. It involves looking at the Culture of Death for what it really is, looking at every component for what it represents, and being honest and truthful in speaking, with charity always, speaking in respect always to all peoples, and listening to all situations. But then very strongly, very firmly, very beautifully, and always with great love, speaking the truth in those situations.” (5:50)
