Eager to boost his standing with voters in the Hawkeye State ahead of the important Ames Straw Poll in August, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty is sending a new mailer to tens of thousands of homes emphasizing his pro-life views.

“Our values are under attack,” the mailer says, “Tim Pawlenty is fighting back. When it comes to protecting life and our values, Tim Pawlenty is walking the walk, not just talking the talk. Some candidates talk about fighting for our values. Tim Pawlenty has fought the fight and won.”

“I have a proven record of fighting for our traditional values and the right to life. Now I need your support to defend those values in the White House,” Pawlenty says in the pro-life mailer.

The mailer for the Republican presidential hopeful goes on to tout several of the former governor’s long line of pro-life accomplishments as the two-term governor of the neighboring state.

“The Woman’s Right to Know Act was signed into law by Governor Pawlenty in his first year in office,” the mailer explains. It “requires informed consent and a 24-hour waiting period before an abortion. The law was the strongest informed consent law in the country at the time. he supported the law requiring parental notification before abortions may be performed on minors.”

The flier also talks about how Pawlenty “appointed a pro-life Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court” saying he “turned a liberal Minnesota Supreme Court into a conservative one and is committed to appointing only strict constructionist judges who will abide by the Constitution.”

The campaign mailing also touts the Positive Alternatives program Pawlenty signed into law, which provides funds for pregnancy centers that help women with tangible pregnancy support and assistance in finding alternatives to abortion. The mailing says the program provided more than $2 million to such pregnancy centers, which were instrumental in reducing abortions in Minnesota.

The flier, which features pictures of the governor with his family and headlines about pro-abortion President Barack Obama ignoring abuses at Planned Parenthood abortion centers, closes with comments from the candidate about his pro-life values.

“As a Christian, I know we must protect life,” Pawlenty says. “I have been a strong and consistent supporter of innocent human life throughout my time in public service. I signed into law four bills to protect the unborn. As governor of a Democrat majority state, I championed efforts to promote a culture of life in Minnesota. in fact, the number of abortions in Minnesota are today at a 35-year low and the number of abortions in Minnesota dropped 14 percent. As President, I will appoint conservative strict constructionists to the U.S. Supreme Court.”

“I want to go to Washington to fight for our traditional values as President of the United States,” he concludes.
