Pro-Lifers Make Progress in De-Funding Planned Parenthood

We are making progress when it comes to stopping taxpayer funding of the nation’s biggest abortion business!

After Indiana made national news by revoking all of the taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood — the abortion business that has made a name for itself by becoming the largest abortion chain in the country, doing more than 325,000 abortions — more states are following suit.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who is pro-life, signed a bill to cut $1 million in funding and North Carolina legislators overrode a veto from pro-abortion Gov. Bev Perdue to zap Planned Parenthood funding there. Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback signed into law a bill to erase Planned Parenthood funding and the abortion business, like it did in Indiana, filed a lawsuit against him. New Hampshire voted to stop a $1.8 million contract the state has with Planned Parenthood, but a state health department foul-up will force the state to vote a second time.

And just two days ago, pro-life New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie decided once again to eliminate more than $7.5 million in family planning funds (much of which goes to Planned Parenthood abortion centers). The state legislature doesn’t have enough votes to override the veto, so the Planned Parenthood abortion centers that have closed as a result will likely stay closed.

Although Democrats in the U.S. Senate defeated a pro-life bill House Republicans supported to cut of federal taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood, we are making progress in the states. Texas and many other states are looking for follow those mentioned above which have already eliminate or cut Planned Parenthood funding.

We know Planned Parenthood doesn’t deserve federal or state funding and not just because it is the number one abortion business in the country or because 96 percent of the pregnant women who go to Planned Parenthood facilities get abortions or because 37 percent of its income is derived from profit from doing abortions. Planned Parenthood has been caught covering up cases of statutory rape and sexual abuse of teenage girls and doing abortions on them without reporting the crimes to authorities. Planned Parenthood has also been caught helping arrange abortions for sex traffickers for the girls they victimize.

No other news outlet has put more focus on these problems and the attempts to de-fund Planned Parenthood than LifeNews.com.
