A media watchdog group is calling on CNN to correct the record now that a claim made by Planned Parenthood on the cable news network has been proven false. Today, a pro-life group exposed how the abortion business does not do mammograms.

Live Action released videotaped footage of calls to 30 Planned Parenthood centers nationwide in 27 different states where abortion facility staff were asked whether or not mammograms could be performed on site. Every one of the Planned Parenthood centers admitted they could not do mammograms. Every Planned Parenthood, without exception, tells the women calling that they will have to go elsewhere for a mammogram, and many clinics admit that no Planned Parenthood clinics provide this breast cancer screening procedure.

The information comes despite claims from Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards saying otherwise.

In February, Richards defended Planned Parenthood against legislation in Congress seeking to revoke its federal taxpayer funding, saying, “If this bill ever becomes law, millions of women in this country are going to lose their health care access, not to abortion services, to basic family planning – you know, mammograms.”

Media Research Center President Brent Bozell says Richards made comments on a CNN program to that effect and called on the network to correct the record.

“Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards appeared on CNN’s Headline News channel claiming that de-funding Planned Parenthood would prevent it from providing women with mammogram services,” he said. “This has been proven absolutely false. A group called Live Action has released an audio investigation with proof from numerous Planned Parenthood clinics whose staff clearly state they do not provide mammograms, yet the President of the organization went on national television and stated the exact opposite.”

“The evidence has been presented, and CNN’s Headline News (HLN) has the opportunity here to display true journalistic integrity.  How will Headline News respond to the evidence of Cecile Richards’ lie on its network? We call on CNN’s HLN to correct the record, and it should be done by Joy Behar to her viewers,” Bozell added. “There should be consequences to lying on national television, and if CNN wants to maintain the respect and trust of their viewers, they should ban Cecile Richards and her lies from appearing again.”

Planned Parenthood has responded to the news expose’ with an attack on Live Action and avoiding the question of mammograms.

“Live Action has a documented history of twisting facts to suit its extreme political agenda, and this video is just the latest example of a false charge,” the abortion business said. “Planned Parenthood provides a wide range of preventive health care services to millions of women through its 800 health centers including contraception, Pap tests,  annual exams, HIV and other STI tests, and lifesaving breast exams.”
