This year, Spring seems to be coming sooner than usual, and Spring cleaning is just beginning.
In January, Students for Life released a new study on University Abortion Health Care Plans, announcing that out of the 200 largest universities in the United States, 44% covered elective abortions and almost half of those universities automatically charge students for their abortion healthcare.

And, as mentioned by Congresswoman Virginia Foxx, on Tuesday night on the floor of the House of Representatives, we also found that federal taxpayer dollars could be used to fund these abortions through federal education grants.

Now, new information from students at University of Virginia reveals that the University of Virginia (UVA) and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) have been performing secret abortions on campus for over twenty years! Because both schools are state institutions, both state and federal tax dollars are going towards these on campus abortions.

From 1988-2009, UVA facilities aborted 2,480 and VCU aborted 9,120 preborn lives. Not only are the universities responsible for the deaths of these children, but also for neglecting to inform their women students of the physical and emotional effects of their “choice” to abort.  You can read the fact sheet and letter to the University of Virginia President here.

On top of all of this, the University of Virginia is listed as one of the schools from the Students for Life University Abortion Health Care Study that not only include abortion in their student health care plan but also automatically charges students for that plan. So UVA is using taxpayer funds and student funds to pay for on-campus abortions.

The University of Virginia which was founded by Thomas Jefferson, the author of the Declaration of Independence, has strayed far from its founder’s vision. The right to Life is the foremost right outlined in Jefferson’s Declaration, and yet the school he founded is not holding up this basic human right and is putting even more lives in jeopardy.

The University of Virginia must act to clean up its back door abortion business and the Virginia Government must act immediately to stop this outrage. Human Life is at stake, and we cannot sit by as more and more lives are put at risk. Virginia must stand for Life and do some spring cleaning.
