Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — It didn’t like long for pro-abortion champion Barbara Boxer to come out swinging against her Senate opponent Carly Fiorina. Just one day after Fiorina cruised to an easy victory to capture the Republican nomination, Boxer and her pro-abortion allies went on the attack.

Fiorina is known for her business and financial views and background given her position as an HP executive, but she is also pro-life.

In a state where voters have rejected a modest proposal to allow parents to know when their minor daughters are considering an abortion, Boxer hopes to use abortion as a means of keeping her job that polls show is tenuous.

In a Tuesday interview with the Los Angeles Times, Boxer said Fiorina’s views are out of step with most California voters.

“She wants to make it a crime, and that would mean women and doctors in jail,” Boxer said. “That is so out of touch with Californians.”

When the Times asked Fiorina about Boxer’s comment, she replied, “That’s a ridiculous statement.”

“I happen to believe in the sanctity of life, but the great majority of Californians disagree with Barbara Boxer, who believes that taxpayers should be funding partial-birth abortion,” Fiorina said.

“Barbara Boxer is really trying to change the subject. The subject in this election is jobs. The subject in this election is out-of-control government," she added.

Meanwhile, Emily’s List, the radical pro-abortion group that only endorses candidates who support partial-birth abortions and forcing taxpayers to fund abortions, took a shot at its pro-life counterpart.

Stephanie Schriock, the group’s president, emailed her supporters trying to build up support for Boxer, saying, "I’m on the ground in California right now, and I can tell you this: The energy among Barbara’s supporters is awesome."

"But with the right-wing responding to Sarah Palin’s rallying cry for the GOP’s newly endorsed candidate, Carly Fiorina, the pace of this campaign is about to take off," she said. "Fiorina’s got the GOP establishment, the anti-choice Susan B. Anthony List, and the Tea Partiers in her corner. But Barbara has us."

Schriock took a slap at SBA List calling Fiorina the "new face of the pro-life movement," but admitted she agrees with the pro-life women’s group when it said abortion "will be an issue in the campaign without fail."

"I can’t say I disagree with them there," she said. Boxer has "fiercely defended" unlimited abortions in the Senate and "The contrast between her and Fiorina couldn’t be starker."

In an email to LifeNews.com, SBA list president Marjorie Dannenfelser responded.

"Mentioning us by name, pro-abortion EMILY’s List has thrown down the gauntlet," she said. "SBA List and EMILY’s List are going head to head in the California Senate election."

"On this one thing I couldn’t agree more– the contrast between pro-abortion Barbara Boxer and pro-life Carly Fiorina couldn’t be starker. And while EMILY’s List and the pro-abortion lobby have deep pockets, we have the truth and troops to bring home a victory in November for unborn children," she added.
