Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — On Friday morning, former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin rallied hundreds of pro-life women and supportive men at a 2010 election fundraising event sponsored by the Susan B. Anthony List. Palin called for what she terms a new feminist movement led by conservative women with pro-life values.

Palin touted "pro-women" conservatives who are, as she described, politically engaged "mamma grizzlies" against abortion and for traditional values.

She credited the SBA List with helping launch, "an emerging conservative feminist identity" and that it is "returning the women’s movement back to it’s original roots."

"There’s a whole stampede of pink elephants," she said about the large number of pro-life women candidates seeking statewide and Congressional offices this year.

"If you thought pitbulls were tough, you don’t want to mess with mamma grizzlies," she said. "This year will be remembered as the year when common sense conservative women get things done for our country."

"Moms kinda just know when something’s wrong…moms can be counted on to fight for their children’s future," Palin added, after sharing her story of the birth of her son Trig, who has Down syndrome.

The former Alaska governor also wanted to clarify what she called a media mis-portrayal of her son’s birth.

She said she never considered abortion but added that her pregnancy with Trig "changed my perspective" and added she "never thought" she would be mom of special needs child.

"Life is not the easiest path but the right path," she said.

Palin wants to encourage moms to choose life, said Trig more important than politics and encouraged her daughter Bristol saying that "society and culture" attack her because she is "using herself as a message" for abstinence.

Palin referred to Obama’s present vote on the Illinois born alive protection bill, and also bashed the pro-life Democrats who "caved" on abortion funding in health care.

Stephanie Schriock, president of Emily’s List, a pro-abortion organization that only endorses candidates who want to force taxpayers to fund abortions, blasted Palin in a Washington Times interview.

"Sarah Palin talks a good game about ‘grizzly bear moms’ taking the country back," she said. "Palin doesn’t seem to trust American women to make their own decisions — though she speaks movingly about her own."
