Houston, TX (LifeNews.com) — The Planned Parenthood Federation of America will honor pro-abortion Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at a Friday night gala in Houston, Texas. There, Clinton is slated to receive the national abortion business’ highest honor, the Margaret Sanger award.

The award, named after the Planned Parenthood founder who some say held racist views against African Americans, honors Clinton for her advocacy of "women’s health and rights throughout her public service career."

America Ferrera, an actress known for her work in "Ugly Betty," will co-host the event with Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards.

The gala will be held in Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center.

In an email to LifeNews.com about the event, Texas Right to Life said the awards dinner comes at a time when Planned Parenthood is in the middle of constructing the nation’s largest abortion facility, a multi-story building in Houston.

"The selection of Houston for this event reinforces their intent to make Houston a major abortion-hub for the southern part of the United States and South America," the pro-life group said.

"Hundreds of Planned Parenthood employees who jeopardize the health of women and deny the risks of abortion will gather in the same city as Texas Right to Life’s headquarters," it said.

The pro-life group is putting together a coalition of pro-life advocates for a peaceful and legal prayer vigil at the convention center Friday evening.

"We need to unite our voices and let Planned Parenthood know that women all over our world deserve better than abortion," the group told LifeNews.com. "Women facing unplanned pregnancies need to know of options and resources to help continue their pregnancies; these women need a plan to reach their goals while protecting their unborn babies."

Texas Right to Life says Planned Parenthood claims to support women but does a disservice to them.

Planned Parenthood recently testified against Texas bill SB 182, a measure to provide vital medical information to women before finalizing the decision to abort.

"Ultrasound is standard medical procedure before an abdominal procedure, and Planned Parenthood’s advocates even confirmed that their centers already do ultrasound before abortions," TRTL said. "Yet, they still opposed Texas Right to Life’s pro-life measure that would require an ultrasound before every abortion."

"Parenthood wants to keep women in the dark about the lives of their unborn babies. When women learn the truth about the life within their womb, they choose life. When women choose life, Planned Parenthood loses money," the group continued.
